Scoutmasters Minute
Sometimes we forget the effect that we have on other people. We start thinking in our own world about only ourselves, all of the things that we have to do, all of the things that we want, etc. As we start this New Year we need to take a few minutes and think about the other people in our lives. We need to remember the people that are depending on us. The younger Scout that needs your help and guidance. The leader that you promised to accomplish a task for. The Commitments that you made to the troop when you took the leadership position. All of these are part of our "Duty to Others". What about our Commitments to God. We know what is the right thing to do, but how often are we doing it? We take an oath everyday as a Scout and that oath is critical to our success both in scouting and in life. " On My Honor, I will do my best to do my Duty to God and My Country, To help Other People at all times and to keep My self Physically fit, Morally Straight and Mentally awake. This oath is what makes us different, it is what makes us special, It is what makes us leaders!
